The Memory of Rain

The rain descends. The city is bleak.
The fog has crawled in to cover the skyline.
I look toward the horizon. It is the same as yours.
I look for the sun but it is hidden in the greyness. In the sadness.

At night we view the same moon.
The stars watch over us.
I think of you.

Silence falls.
Silence fills my ears.

The rain speaks for my soul. It translates my heart’s words.
I have no more tears.
The emptiness fills my soul. There is a void.
Like the skyline, my mind is covered in a fog.

At night we view the same darkness.
Even when we cannot see them the stars watch over us.
I still think of you.

Silence falls.
Silence fills my ears.

The rain brings life within its grey sadness.
One day life will come back to fill my void. My soul.
My happiness is my own. For a time you added to it.
Even when life is grey from the rain, I smile. Fond memories.

At night the moon shines through my window.
The stars dance as they watch over us.
We watch the same sky.
I will always be thinking of you.

Silence remains. One day I will be okay within it.
The silence becomes my comfort.
Only the memories remain.
